Continuing where we left off last week with Autopsy, Dismember picks up the death/gore torch and elevates it to heights unseen in pure visceral, raw, searing sound. It's safe to say there wouldn't be a Dismember without Autopsy, at least not the band we know today. Dismember adopted some frameworks that Autopsy built, but ended up taking their sound to a level still unmatched. They were the counter to Entombed's low end, filthy guitar tone. They brought the high-gain, "treble" end of the spectrum, which stands to this day as one of the most confrontational and bludgeoning recordings ever laid to tape.
